Feather 17 [Video]
[ The video clicks on to a view of the ceiling in one of the rooms of the Blackthorn Inn. The fan is slowly circling, and the only other thing visible in the frame is an arm reaching straight up from slightly off screen, holding up a Rising Badge. ]
We've already figured out that collecting a whole set of badges doesn't actually get you anything of value, right? Or did that finally change while I wasn't looking?
[ Joshua sighs, and the arm lowers out of the feed. There's the sound of it hitting the bed, and the camera shakes just the slightest. ]
You'd think that after I spent this long collecting them, I'd feel prouder at finally winning the last one. Mmm, perhaps this isn't really for me after all.
[ After a pause, he giggles. Then he rolls over and leans over the Gear, his face finally entering the camera's view. ]
How about this? Tell me about the worst thing that happened to you at home that you're still willing to talk about. Even if it doesn't seem to compare to what others have been through. Tragedy is quite relative, after all.

That's a weird thing to want to know. [Not that he's averse to answering, but...seriously, that's really weird.]
[ No, Josh, that's just a problem with you. ]

...eh, that sort of makes sense. Maybe information like that could be useful, and Dorumon just doesn't see how. He still can't get past the part where it hurts to hear about tragedies, though - who would voluntarily set themselves up for that? (The obvious answer passes him by.)]
He hums uncertainly, then gives a hesitant nod.] It's still weird. [Just in case there was any doubt. And as for the answer:] The world ended.
[ His voice is full of curiosity, not disbelief.
This was something he almost did himself on a smaller scale so he is plenty interested; do go on. ]

[ If you'll pardon the phrase, Joshua needs a moment to process that. ]
Did this world not exist prior to the creation of computers?
...understandable, actually, but it's still funny.
Meanwhile, Dorumon looks like you just asked him to solve existence.]
I...don't know. I don't think it existed before Yggdrasil came into being...? I don't think it could, unless...Yggdrasil was replaced with something just like it.
and nearly endingworlds is old hat, but a computer doing it is new and fascinating!... Anyone actually paying attention might be wtf-ing at him a little though because seriously, Josh, seriously. ]
How long had it existed before ending?
Young.
[Neither he nor the mun can even begin to guess, due to the Digital World lacking internal measurements of time longer than days.]
[ Can we at least get a ballpark? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? ]
Was the host itself inside the world, or in a different one?
Like...maybe the computer that runs our whole world is like the computers in this world, and there's a world that's connected to ours...?
So you don't know for sure the host itself resided in that world in particular?
[video] i keep forgetting whether yggdrasil has one l or two
[...yeah, that's as far as he can stretch it right now. Error error. Reboot recommended.]
[video] I would have no idea
