Well, as a monster, I could often sense alterations in rune energy, including those that preceded or were the result of rune magic. That Pokemon instinctively understand how to use their powers suggests that they are similarly attuned, if not consciously, to whatever process or source those powers draw on. Meanwhile, I as a human have no similar powers and thus no such understanding.
