[ The video clicks on to a view of the ceiling in one of the rooms of the Blackthorn Inn. The fan is slowly circling, and the only other thing visible in the frame is an arm reaching straight up from slightly off screen, holding up a Rising Badge. ]

We've already figured out that collecting a whole set of badges doesn't actually get you anything of value, right? Or did that finally change while I wasn't looking?

[ Joshua sighs, and the arm lowers out of the feed. There's the sound of it hitting the bed, and the camera shakes just the slightest. ]

You'd think that after I spent this long collecting them, I'd feel prouder at finally winning the last one. Mmm, perhaps this isn't really for me after all.

[ After a pause, he giggles. Then he rolls over and leans over the Gear, his face finally entering the camera's view. ]

How about this? Tell me about the worst thing that happened to you at home that you're still willing to talk about. Even if it doesn't seem to compare to what others have been through. Tragedy is quite relative, after all.

It doesn't...make any sense to me, even now, how someone could want us to do that.

Yes, when I realized that we wouldn't get out alive if we didn't. The doors were a bit tricky, though, so I got trapped in there.

[As in they opened inward and she was trying to back out as an escape method while being stricken at. Not a good set of circumstances.]

It grew unstable, and collapsed. [It's sort of a parroted answer. Dorumon could go on about how terrible and wrong it all was, but...but.] Everything in it grew and grew, and the host couldn't maintain it anymore.

[It probably doesn't take a genius to figure out it's not the worst (or even second-worst) thing that's ever happened to him, but it sure as hell is traumatizing.]

With well-armed guards and ships, of course. Besides, the monsters that live close to towns are usually weak and relatively harmless.

Who...whoever they were, they communicated with us with this bear. A robot bear, I'm pretty sure it was.

Can you farm? Ah, but I suppose if the monsters are edible, you have a plentiful supply of meat...

Of course we can; it merely takes some careful planning. The meat from hunted monsters does help, as long as you remember which species are poisonous.

Not one to have the difficulty of my mission influenced by whether I've seen my mark's face or not.

I wouldn't call it sabotage, per se - I was trying to apprehend the man at the time, after all, and I would have been more surprised if he hadn't tried to strike back at me. At the same time, he would have gone after me eventually; he was specifically targeting people like me and killing them. So he would have come for me eventually, I'm sure.

I...don't know. I don't think it existed before Yggdrasil came into being...? I don't think it could, unless...Yggdrasil was replaced with something just like it.

We thought it could've been a larger group...to be able to lock us away like that, but Monobear was only ever the one to talk with us...

Being able to lock down the whole school and keep us from getting out, though, it seems like something you'd need more people to work on...

I don't suppose they have a helpful "Poison" label in your handy electronic encyclopedia, do they? Hee hee...
