And here I'd thought I'd seen it all, but this world is always one for new surprises. I suppose it's also a case of "buyer beware".

[ He turns the camera around, and a newly-hatched Litwick is sitting innocently on the table in front of him. ]

Are there any suggestions for feeding this that don't involve giving it my life energy? I'd rather like to keep that, myself.

[ The Litwick makes a soft whistling sound and tilts to the side, and Joshua gives a frustrated sigh as he cuts the feed. ]

It is if you're just a foot like this little fellow~! [ Duh. I mean, a chocolate bar is like, a full meal and then some! Oh what Rangiku would give for these tiny stomachs! It'd make her proportion sizing problem a thing of the past! ]

Candles aren't exactly the most intimidating of objects. I'd imagine a demonic floodlight would be a more useful light source for that sort of thing.

I don't think the lack of nutrients in candy is made better by a lack of size, hee hee.

Oh, it does a lot of things. It makes cute noises, it hops around, it blows little fireballs, it fuels itself using life energy...

Does it really require nutrients? I mean, it's a sentient candle.

[usedfeatherdance]

I'd imagine pure life energy is one of the most nutritional food sources out there.

[conduit]

I wouldn't! People's life energy doesn't seem very nutritional. Spirits are a poor source in protein, and fat. But they might be decent in carbs, but only carbs.

Even in that case, candy hardly seems like a substitute. I'd imagine if one lived off of life energy, it'd skip right past breaking down each sort of food into their respective energy sources and just go straight to the energy.

No! The life energy thing?!

If I lived off of energy, I think I'd just enjoy energy that tastes good! And candy usually tastes good! But if they live off of energy, why not talk to the nurse and see what other alternatives exist. They're really educated in these things!

I suppose it's worth a shot. At the worst, she'll tell me I can either let it go, or I'll only have five years left to live. Hee hee.

So the data entry claims, it feeds itself using life energy.

I don't think Pokemon can die here. I mean, death isn't actually all that possible in Johto. [ she won't say anything about his giggling, but she's judging it right now. ]

... What does that mean?

[conduit]

You just don't die! You get beaten to the point where trained assassins can recognize you're dead and you feel like you're dead, but, you're still alive. You come back later heavily injured and everything~!

That sounds painful yet convenient. Pokemon, too, or was that just a guess?

Probably pokemon too. I haven't heard of anything about them dying and I've been working at the pokemon center for a year now.
