Say you're accompanying a friend who's collecting the badges. Unfortunately, this friend is a little slow on the uptake, so you find yourself waiting for them to finish training for the gym for on the order of weeks... per gym.

[ He rolls over on his back, temporarily removing the two Eevees from the video. ]

How do you keep yourself entertained when these places are so small and you've already visited them all before?

Find a volunteer to help pass the time.

Said friend was supposed to be the volunteer in the first place. If I take on too many more, I might just find myself with so much dead weight I can't even move.

Hee hee, likely so. I didn't have a very wide range of options at the time, I'm afraid...

To be honest... A lot of the NPCs aren't very good options.

I suppose that is what they are, if this world takes after the game, but I can't say I've heard anyone actually call them as such.

But unfortunately, you're quite right about that. Makes a limited set of options even more limited, doesn't it?

That's technically what they are. I guess I can understand why people don't say that when they come from places that don't have the game.

There are plenty of people to tease over the Gear, though.

But over the Gear, people can get fed up and end the conversation.

I work and train, mostly. And spend time just hanging out with my friends too, but I guess in your case that might not want to be something you do too much of, since you might distract them from training even more.

[A beat.]

Though you could always train together! That's always a fun way to pass the time.

But unless we're training against each other, that still seems like something that would slow him down. The number of Pokemon I have down around his team's level is... not exactly many, I'm afraid.

Oh...well. I didn't necessarily mean that you had to train against him. Sometimes it can be kinda nice just to have somebody else out there level grinding with you. But if your Pokemon really are that high then...you will probably run into the same problem. Unless you pit your own Pokémon against each other or work on strategies or something.

I suppose I could always have some of mine act as punching bags for his, but I don't suppose they'd be very happy with me afterwards, hee hee.

Maybe I should watch and critique his battle skills. [ Josh do you want Neku to punch you in the face or something... ]

Eh, depends on the Pokémon. My friends and I have used that training method before and I have a few that were willing to take one for the team. Not that they just stood there and took it, mind you, but they knew who had to win in the end and pulled their punches.

Whatever works though! A second pair of eyes never hurts with this sort of thing.

It really depends on how welcome that pair of eyes is. I'm sure you know the stubborn types who don't even accept the help that's handed to them on a silver platter.

Ohhh, yeah definitely. [Vriska could be like that sometimes...despite also being a cheater who likes to take shortcuts. She is an enigma, that girl. An enigma wrapped in spiderwebs.]

I take it your friend is this type?

When it comes to me, at least. I think he's a bit more accepting of help from others. I haven't the faintest clue why!
