[ When the video turns on, a blue Gardevoir's face is taking up half of the picture. She looks at the Gear curiously and rotates it a bit, then a voice can be heard from off screen. ]

[ She looks up and after a moment the camera swings around to show Joshua sitting on a bed, hair and clothes messy as if he just woke up but otherwise cheerful enough. He waves at the camera. ]

Hee hee, hello everyone. Feels like I've been asleep forever. I don't suppose anyone else who caught that plague a while back is still suffering for it? This [ and he reaches up to twist that little curl of now-purple hair ] certainly hasn't gone away yet.

More importantly, it seems I'm still having some trouble handling my PokeGear. For the meantime, Gardevoir will have to be my cameraman. She doesn't quite know what she's doing yet. This is her learning experience. [ There's a soft "Gaaar..." of protest, but Joshua simply giggles, focusing off-camera for a moment. ] Unfortunately, you're the only one I have with hands.

Ah, yes. In the interest of discussion, how about telling me about something or someone that was important to you back home that you don't have here. I'm curious.

... You can turn it off now.

[ There's a sudden flurry of movement as Gardevoir puts the Gear down and leans over it, trying to figure out what to do. After a couple seconds Joshua's hair can be seen peeking into the frame. ]

That one. The one you used to start it.

[ Then the video ends. ]

[ He gives a nod offscreen, and the camera shakes again. ]

Nope. Well, some of them was already here when I arrived. But...well, they went home.

[He seems rather casual about it, but Atsuro's hiding how much those departures affected him rather well.]

Sounds familiar. I arrived with two people from home, but both of them have long since returned.

Pretty lonely, but I'm mostly over it. I have my team to train and my best friend keeping me company.

[ The video becomes a little shaky, but Joshua continues without minding it. ]

[ There's a pause. ]

Are you doing alri-- [ But he doesn't even get through the question before there's a harsh cry of surprise from Gardevoir as the Gear clatters to the floor. ]

[He's not as...open with them, compared to his bond with Kaz. But before Atsuro can answer, he blinks and stare at the video.]

Uh...hey? You guys doing alright over there?

Yeah, I have! Both people I talked over the network and others I met in person.

I get along with them. [Not that close.]

It's easier to get close to a few people instead of many. Most of the time, I don't get a lot of chances to get close.

I'd say that depends on what you mean by "close". Why don't you get many chances?

[Safety reasons. That's his excuse as a kid, but as Atsuro grew older, he can afford to take chances.] It's mostly on my end, since I don't go out of my way to ask people if they want to hang out when I was a kid. But I've been getting better at that.

Did you just not bother to try to make friends?

I just do as I like. Sometimes, I end up making friends along the way.

[Mostly with adults, due to the mask of Internet anonymity.]

Sometimes, I don't click with some people. [Or they try to bully him that time.]
