Feather 11 [Video]

[ CLATTER CLATTER. That's the sound of the Gear turning on as it falls to the ground, briefly catching a glimpse of Joshua before he's pushed out of view by a large, white shape. It only takes a second before the white fades into a Lapras. The Pokemon makes a soft cooing noise as it looks around, then it's gaze seems to settle on something. A few seconds later, an Absol walks into view of the camera and gives the Lapras a small nudge. It makes another noise then starts moving awkwardly, leaving the view of the camera in the process. There's several more seconds of shuffling noises, then a very dirty and very frustrated Joshua pulls himself upright and grabs the Gear, glaring at the Absol. ]

You ran out from under me.

[ And with that he turns off the feed.

A few minutes later, he turns it back on and appends the following: ]

I would have thought two hundred and twenty kilograms would have felt a lot heavier. Regardless, as I'm sure you're all so very worried about me, I think I'm fine.

If there's a lesson to learn here, it's is to beware what eggs you're carrying and how. Not that I wasn't aware that nature ignores all logic here, but that was still a bit more than I was expecting.

Ah... you had an egg for a rather large pokemon hatch while you were holding it, I presume?

In my bag, but that's more or less correct.

I can't say I've ever had one quite so large, but they certainly can be surprising like that.

I knew it was going to be large ahead of time, but it's been so long since I got it I was starting to think it wouldn't hatch at all. Silly me.

Ah, some do seem to take their time, yes. Though if you have a fire-type with certain abilities, it can speed things along a bit.

And here I left my fire-type in the box so I was allowed to keep the egg with me. Perfect. I suppose that explains it.

I suppose it certainly does.

On the other hand, if memory serves I'm quite close to medical assistance right now. Who knows where I might have been if it had hatched earlier?

I suppose that would have depended on whether you were still carrying the egg at the time.

I've spent most of the journey with it in my bag, so more likely than not.

Well, then I suppose that would be a problem.

I don't suppose any of your pokemon would have known to seek help or otherwise transport you?

They would have, but it's not the sort of thing I'd have particularly enjoyed.

I'd imagine not, but it's better than the alternative, isn't it?

[usedfeatherdance]

Which alternative? Dying in the wilderness or not getting hurt in the first place?

More the former, I'd imagine.

Usually they glow white to give you some warning, but I wasn't looking at the right time. And of course they're born fully grown.

I guess they are some sort of monster... I just thought they'd grow a bit like chocobos or something.

... Chocobos? [ Why does that ring a bell...?

maybe because you're from Shibuya just like Square Enix and they love their chocobos. nope, couldn't be. ]

Well, um, they're birds from my world. They're kind of big and yellow, and they're good for riding? But they hatch small and grow up to be big and strong.
I just thought Pokemon'd be the same!

Well, that much at least isn't true. Some Pokemon are good for riding, though. And when they're the type to evolve, they usually get bigger as they do.
